Galen’s Background
I have been admitted to the Nevada State Bar since October of 2012 and am licensed to practice in Nevada Courts and Immigration Courts throughout the United States. I primarily represent criminal defendants in Reno, Sparks and Northern Nevada in areas of criminal defense as well as immigration defense in removal proceedings. Our office processes USCIS petitions and represents clients at immigration interviews in Las Vegas, Sacramento, and the Bay Area as well as clients throughout the U.S.
I started my legal career as an intern with the Washoe County Public Defender’s Office where I helped represent clients in court along with a supervising attorney. After graduating from the University of Oregon Law School where I focused on criminal justice and environmental law, I was a Law Clerk to Honorable Judge Brent Adams (Ret.) in Second Judicial District Court of Nevada, from 2012 to 2013.
I have been working for Family Visa and Immigration Services for the last decade, representing Respondents seeking asylum, or other relief for those facing removal/deportation proceedings as well as ICE detainers and bond/custody proceedings before the Federal Immigration Courts (EOIR). In addition, we file appeals with the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) and with appeals and motions to reopen/reconsider for clients facing USCIS denials, Requests for Evidence (RFEs) or other immigration-related filings. Our office also provides criminal background checks, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and record sealing petitions in Nevada.
